Gallant by V.E. Schwab

“Ghosts were people once, and people come in all ways, good and bad and what’s between. Sure, maybe some are out to frighten, but others, I think, are just watching, wishing they could help.”

Time to review this book! Although Im a huge fan of Schwab, and although her writing style keeps improving this book fell flat for me. Im not sure if what was it but this was an unsatisfying read for me.

I loved and adored her City of Ghost which has the same eerie and atmospheric vibes into it like Gallant. Although they are a bit young for me I enjoyed every single ghost, ghoul and dark forces mentioned and included in these books. It felt like this is a continuation or extension of Addie and Luc's story, like if Addie and Luc ever had a family together it would be the Priors or Olivia. I enjoyed Addie LaRue but this book is really not doing it for me, I struggled to get into it, I dived into it all excited and with high expectations but page after page just felt meh for me. It didn't gave me the same thrill I felt whenever I read about dark forces at work or ghosts. I cant help but keep comparing it with her other works that are so underrated but have a much better plot and story!

I did still enjoyed some parts of it but other than that I personally think it could have been better like what Schwab did with City of Ghosts.
